Feathery White Plumes in Colder Seasons
Why White Cloud Muhly Grass?
If you’re looking to add interest to your landscape in fall and winter, White Cloud Muhly Grass is the perfect choice. During the colder months, the grass blooms with cottony, cloud-like tufts atop three-season grass. In spring, summer, and early fall, this green grass adds color and movement to your landscape, before fading to tan after its winter flowering.
This ornamental grass is ideal for gardeners seeking simplicity. White Cloud Muhly Grass prefers full sun, but can tolerate some shade. It can be planted in any conditions, with good tolerance for poor soil. What’s more, this easy-growing grass stands strong through high heat, humidity, drought and salt. It’s even resistant to disease, pests, deer and rabbits.
And the planting options are limitless. This grass thrives in containers, in mass plantings, or as accents among your other greenery, adding effortless texture and height.

Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant in an area with full to partial sun (at least 4 hours of sunlight per day). Select a location with well-drained soil and dig a hole that’s large enough to accommodate your White Cloud Muhly’s root ball.
After you’ve planted, mulch the surrounding area and water to settle the roots.
2. Watering: Once your White Cloud Muhly Grass is established, rainfall should suffice for your grass’s watering needs. Before then, water about once weekly or check the surrounding soil about 2 inches down for dryness.
3. Pruning: In late winter, before new growth emerges in spring cut your Muhly Grass back to a few inches above the soil to make room for new growth. Note: If you purchase this grass in fall-winter, it may be cut back for the plant’s health. If your grass is cut back, don’t worry – it will grow even happier and healthier next spring!
